Riesling, Ovum 'Off the Grid'
The beauty of balance. The ideal tension between acid and sugar. Tons of fruit, layers of smoky minerals, a delicately powerful finish, a wine with enough electricity to power its own grid.
2022 Off the Grid Riesling is a quintessential Ovum wine. Intensley aromatic with luscious texture one might expect from a red wine. The first thing you'll notice is the deep yellow color in the glass, this comes from aging white wine in Acacia wood barrels [the barrels are commissioned for production]. Aromatics - ripe apricot, Eureka lemon, thyme. This wine has an unusual aroma that we can only compare to what it smells like when you walk into charcuterie shop...in a good way!
Richly textured, 2022 Off the Grid is a mouthful of wine. High aciding provides scaffolding and structure, and the 9gL of residual sugar is barely noticable but lays the foundation for long aging. Only 400 cases produced.
The isolated Off the Grid Vineyard lies close to the Oregon-California border in the remote southern reaches of Oregon, just twenty-five miles inland from the Pacific. The vineyard sits at an elevation of 1500 feet and is planted on a dried riverbed, so that the vines struggle in the rock strewn soils and very cool micro-climate.
