Pinot Noir, WALT wine 'Shea Vineyard'
After a stretch of warm years from 2014 to 2018, the 2019 vintage was cool and wet. The 2019 vintage is considered an exceptional vintage for Oregon’s Willamette Valley, producing wines of great complexity and texture, with the cooler vintage marking a return to the region’s signature elegance. A warm summer was tempered by rain near harvest and led to classic Oregon-style Pinots, with bright structures and floral aromas.
The Shea Vineyard has earned a reputation as one of the finest examples of Oregon terroir: pithy and complex with wonderful balance and structure. The sedimentary soils and unique environment produce wines of excellent concentration and depth in one of the Pacific Coast's most premier, and extreme, growing regions.
Light ruby in color, the wine opens with a perfume of cranberry, raspberry and strawberry aromas. Delicate hints of rose petal and Jordan almond interweave with the fruit. The body is on the delicate end of the spectrum, with layers of bright berries and minerality. The taut structure on the finish punctuates this inviting and complex wine.
